Leadership with Laptops - Action Learning ProjectThe ISER Leadership with Laptops Program aims to provide schools with resources, processes and leadership skills to enable them to implement local school projects to improve and extend the use of the DER Laptops across their school. The Program has been developed utilising the Professional Learning and Leadership Development Directorate (PLLD) Action Learning processes and resources. It is designed to introduce the concepts of action learning and then use these concepts to help the team run a project within the school.

In Semester One 2011 the program was offered to schools from the Wollongong, Wollongong North, Shellharbour and Highlands SEGs. It involved four schools. Each school consisted of 3 identified staff to act as an Action Learning Team. These team members attended 6 course days, as well as time allocated at a school level, to implement their project.

Each school identified an individual project, to meet their specific needs, which was selected from the designated list shown below.
Project Options:

  1. Developing the technology team to provide whole school leadership in the use of laptops in our school and community of schools.
  2. Developing a high performing technology team that can lead the school to create a vision for learning with laptops for the next two years and then support its implementation
  3. Using DER NSW as a leverage point to transform pedagogy in our school.

In Semester One 2011 the following schools were involved with this Project:
  • Albion Park High School
  • Corrimal High School
  • The Illawarra Senior College
  • Smiths Hill High School.
